About
The Town of Cambria Building Inspector is also the Code Enforcement Officer. He is charged by the Town Board to enforce federal, state and municipal regulations to protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens.
IF YOUR PROJECT REQUIRES AN APPEARANCE BEFORE THE PLANNING OR ZONING BOARD, APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO OUR OFFICE BY THE 2ND TO LAST BUSINESS DAY OF THE MONTH TO BE PLACED ON THE NEXT MONTH'S AGENDA. This is due to time constraints to prepare the proper paperwork with the various parties involved. Special permits, variances, and sub-division charges are based upon the complexity of the project and include consulting engineer costs, advertising fees, etc.
New York is phasing in new building codes based on the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, requiring most new construction, including homes under seven stories, to be all-electric starting on December 31, 2025. These new codes, incorporated into the Uniform Fire Protection and Building Code, will prohibit gas appliances and heating systems in most new buildings to reuce greenhouse gas emissions.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
*New Construction - The new all-electric mandate primarily affects new residentioal buildings and low-rise commercial buildings.
*Existing Buildings - Existing homes and renovations on existing structures are not affected by these new all-electric requirements.
*Builders and Contractors - Builders will need to incorporate electyric heating, cooling, and cooking systems, such as heat pumps and induction stoves in new projects.
Any permits pulled prior to December 31, 2025 will adhere to the current codes as they have been.
This is a New York State change. The State has come out with new codes for 2026.
It is strongly recommended that individuals review the application and procedures with the Building Inspector prior to completing and or submitting these forms.
